Default Domain Parking - 09-26-2008

If you have some idle domains lying without being used up with content, you can utilize those domains and use it for domain parking It is nothing but adding ads to those unused domain names and earn revenue from those ads. Sedo is one of the best domain parking service which is around.

I've seen this useful for things like youube.com, where the user makes a typo. It adds CPM for the owner. But usually, you shouldn't use it b/c you won't get any traffic just with ads.

The other issue with typos is trademark infringement. Companies (especially those with deep pockets) have started going after typosquatters.

Back in 2006-2007, there was this company called Domibot (also known as Unasi, DomainCar, etc.) that was registering typos left and right. Domibot was using three registrars to automatically register these typos. Microsoft noticed this and started keeping track. Ultimately, however, it was Yahoo! and Dell that brought down Domibot and the three "bad" registrars.

IMHO, it's not worth it. The money that you earn from parking these typo domains probably won't even be enough to pay for the legal fees, in case the trademark holder of your typo domain sues you. My two cents.

I wouldn't be suprised if they went to court for some jail time with that type of impersonation. You would be ok with youube.com type websites like I mentioned though, as long as you don't impersonate their site. Just having the ads there, or resell the domain to youtube, they might be interested.
